Sven and Sarah run a beautiful cafe on Milligan St in the Perth CBD. It is filled with luscious greenery that hangs from the ceiling and climbs down the walls. They serve delicious coffees and matcha lattes, and I've never, ever eaten better pancakes. Ever.
But there's so much more beneath the surface at Tiisch, and it's really exciting to have been asked to come on board and be part of it. Last year, Sven and Sarah recruited a bunch of volunteers to cook, serve and spend time with homeless people from Perth. They invited them into Tiisch, offered haircuts and gave them gift packs with donations ranging from hygienic products to winter blankets and shoes.
I wasn't there on the day, but they had collected raw footage from two videographers there on the day, so Sven and I sat down to record the story and invite you to be part of the next event.
The goal is to gift 1000 packs before winter, close down Milligan St and have food trucks, music, art, haircuts and community. You can be there on the day, or donate products or money. Every little bit helps. The Street Lights Project wants to surround those who are doing it tough with love, compassion and community. Be part of it.
